SANTA FE - Mrs. Lydia Sue Macaluso passed from this life Saturday, March 4, 2023, at her home in Santa Fe.

Born October 20, 1941, in Galveston, Mrs. Macaluso had been a resident of Santa Fe for 45 years. Lydia graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1959 and then earned her associates degree from the University of Houston in 1963, but had been working as a tour guide for the Moody Mansion in Galveston for the past 5 years. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock and was a member of the Elks Lodge #126 in Galveston. She enjoyed reading, gardening and going out to eat, she also enjoyed looking her best and always made her hair appointments on Thursdays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaschen Matthew and Raeshie (Foster) Hasselmeier, Sr.; husband, Paul Domonick Macaluso.

Survivors include her son Michael Todd Macaluso and wife, Sherry; brother, Matt Hasselmeier; grandchildren, Mason Nick Macaluso and Logan Fox.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
