Lydia Bernice Minter
TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Lydia Bernice Minter went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 25, 2020 at the age of 94.
Bernice loved the Lord and her life revolved around her faith in God and love for the church. She was a member of Highland's Baptist Church and a charter member of College View Baptist Church. As a young woman, Bernice began singing at church with her sister Margaret. She continued to sing in the church choir and teach Sunday school for the rest of her life. In addition to her passion for music, Bernice enjoyed gardening. She could be found in her garden every morning at dawn, knee-deep in blooms of every kind. Bernice cherished time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Paul and Lucinda Atkinson and her husband of 49 years, Roy B. Minter. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Julianne Minter, Janis Vyvial and husband, Melvin, Robert Minter and wife, Melanie, and Gwendolyn Riner and husband, Steve; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
