Manuel Rojas, Jr.
SANTA FE - Mr. Manuel Rojas, Jr. passed from this life Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, in Santa Fe.
Born December 15, 1926, in Goliad, Texas, Mr. Rojas had been a resident of Santa Fe for over 35 years, previously of Galveston. He was a welder with the Pipefitters Union Local 211 for 15 years, formally worked at Todd’s Shipyard for 20 years, was a former truck driver and started G&M Welding in Galveston. Manuel enjoyed hunting, fishing and he built a 60’ shrimp boat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and David (Mansuella) Rojas, Sr.; son-in-law, Donald Mittelsted.
Survivors include his loving wife, Concepcion “Connie” Rojas; sons, Ruben Rojas and wife, Cari of Santa Fe, Raul Rojas and wife, Linda of Bayou Vista, Ray Rojas and wife, Denise of Santa Fe; daughters, Louisa Taylor and husband, Richard of Santa Fe, Elizabeth Mittelsted of Santa Fe; brothers, Daniel Rojas of Santa Fe, LaLa Israel Rojos of Galveston; 7 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. Donovan Mittelsted officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aidan Anderson, Carter Boaz, David Rojas, James Rojas, Michael Rojas and Macario Sosa.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
