Marguerite Angeline (Grygar) Plowman

Mrs. Marguerite (Margie) Angeline (Grygar) Plowman passed away from this life April 9, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas, surrounded by her daughters.

Born November 10, 1933, near Temple in Double Header, Texas, Mrs. Plowman graduated from Temple High School in 1950 before moving to Galveston where she met her husband, Vernon G. Plowman, while working at Santa Fe Railroad. After marrying, they moved to Hitchcock and were longtime members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She worked many years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at various nursing homes in Galveston, Hitchcock, La Marque, and Texas City.

In 2013, Margie and Vernon moved to Fort Worth to be near their daughters. In 2019, Margie moved to Weatherford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon G. Plowman; son, Vernon J. Plowman and wife, Daniele; son-in-law, Jeffrey Williams; parents, Joe and Marie (Hanacik) Grygar; brothers, Clarence Grygar and Stanley Grygar; sisters, Hattie (Grygar) Tomek, Marietta (Grygar) Brenek, and Josephine Grygar; and sisters-in-law, Waunita (Plowman) Schaper, Glennona (Plowman) Sitton, and Alice (Plowman) Barber.

Survivors include daughters, Karen (Plowman) Shelton and husband, Timothy, and Kathy (Plowman) Williams, all of Weatherford; grandchildren, Lindsay Shelton and husband, Eric Travis of Hermosa Beach, California, Blake Shelton of College Station, Dustin Williams of Stephenville, Abby and husband, Dee Church of Amarillo, and Jake Williams of Weatherford; great-grandson, Presley Church; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563. Margie will be laid to rest later alongside her husband at the Houston National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the church on April 29, 2025, prior to the funeral.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Margie Plowman’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.
