Marsha Moore Obituary

SANTA FE – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Kay Moore, who left us peacefully at her home on April 3, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on July 10, 1945, in Santa Fe, Texas, Marsha was a cherished daughter of Christine and George Henry Westrup as well as her loving stepfather, Eugene Eldridge who raised her after her father’s death. Marsha was a beacon of kindness and compassion, qualities that were evident in her early years and carried through her entire life. She pursued her education at Lamar University and graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School, dedicating herself to the care of others as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital. Her nurturing spirit and desire to help those in need were hallmarks of her character, and she touched countless lives with her gentle hands and caring heart. On July 8, 1968, Marsha married the love of her life, Fred J. Moore, Jr. Together, they shared 52 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside Fred, Marsha transitioned from nursing to join him in managing Fred Moore Motor Parts, and later, they established Island Utilities and Laurel House, an assisted living home. Their partnership was a testament to their shared vision and unwavering dedication to their community. Marsha was a devoted mother to her children, Leesa Teel and her husband, Scott Herington, Lorre Totten and her husband, Robert, and Fred Moore, III and his wife, Krista. Her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, love, and warmth. Throughout her life, Marsha remained an active and devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she generously volunteered her time and talents. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She was also a passionate gardener, a skilled cook, and an avid lover of animals. Her zest for life was evident in her many hobbies, including boating, fishing, and playing card games and dominos with her dear friends.

Marsha is survived by her loving sisters, Barbara Giamfortone, Rena and her husband, Frank Tambrella, and Jerry and her husband, Mike Tinnell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred J. Moore, Jr.; her parents, George Westrup and Christine and Eugene Eldridge; her brother, Donald G. Westrup and her brother-in-law, Jody Giamfortone. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Larry Wilson, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
