Mr. Marvin Lee Allen passed from this life Monday, August 25, 2025, in Galveston.
Marvin was a proud BOI March 15, 1944. Like most islanders, Marvin had an easy-going personality and liked to keep things simple. He enjoyed losing himself in music, especially the classics from the 1950’s and 60’s. He played great at the guitar – a talent which he held until his last few years. Marvin was a dedicated employee at the City of Galveston for 35 years in public works and after retiring, he went on to work at Wal Mart as a greeter for another 10 years. 3 things Marvin loved: God, family and football. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He liked baseball as well, always rooting for the Houston Astro’s. Marvin liked to be outside and enjoyed camping, particularly in the east Texas region. Marvin was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed until we can see him again at the pearly gates.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Nora (Hall) Allen; brother, Harold Allen; sisters, Beulah Dunway, Dorothy Bouquet and Margaret Bouquet.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Andreason, Lori Tanner and husband, Jesse Tanner, III; sister, Mary Lou Bailey; grandchildren, Corisa Jackson, Courtney Galvan (Louis, Sr.), Harrison Mai; great-grandchildren, Aliyah Champion, Jayden Earl, Xavian Galvan, Na’Skya Jackson, Aceyn Galvan and Aaveah Galvan.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at The Meridian Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care team for their kindness and compassion shown to Marvin.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
