CONROE – Mary Chesshir passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, leaving behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and deep devotion to her family. Born in Clarksville, Texas, and raised in Texas City, Mary graduated from Texas City High School in 1959. She remained proud of her Fuller family roots throughout her life, honoring her parents, Jack and Jean Fuller, in the most personal way, by naming her own children, Jeanne and Jack, after them.
Mary shared a special bond with her father, whose work ethic shaped her drive and determination. But she also carried the unmistakable imprint of her mother, Jean, a woman known for her honesty, directness, and no-nonsense approach to life. Mary inherited that same straightforward spirit and had a gift for honest, direct conversation, always offering the guidance people needed, even when it wasn’t the easiest thing to hear. That blend of her father’s work ethic and her mother’s candor became the foundation of who she was.
Mary’s entrepreneurial drive helped her build a successful real estate career in the Santa Fe area, and she later transitioned into the video rental business in the mid 1980s. Her sharp instincts, business savvy, and ability to spot dishonesty a mile away made her a force in any room. She had a sixth sense for people, something she always credited to the way she was raised.
In late 1985, Mary crossed paths with Max Chesshir, the man who would become the love of her life and her very best friend. Following their marriage in June 1986, they shared 40 years of partnership, laughter, travel, and unwavering devotion. Their home remains filled with warmth, art, and the unmistakable touch of Mary’s creativity. As a gifted painter, she proudly displayed many of her original pieces throughout their home. She often alternated her time at the easel with the intricate work of crocheting, filling their lives with unique and personal handmade touches. This nurturing spirit extended to her garden, where she had a remarkable ability to take the smallest clipping and grow it into a thriving plant—even raising full crepe myrtles from a single trimming. While she enjoyed movies of all kinds, westerns always held a special place in her heart.
Mary cherished her family above all else and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she kept family traditions alive through the years with her treasured recipes, especially her famous chicken spaghetti. Mary was private, loyal, and fiercely protective of the people she loved. She had a big heart, but she guarded her circle closely, and once you were in it, you knew it. She was tough, resilient, and a survivor in every sense of the word, qualities that reflected both the upbringing she cherished and the family she adored.
Raised in the Church of Christ in Texas City, Mary lived her life with faith and conviction. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is with Jesus now, and that one day they will be reunited in Heaven.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jean Fuller; her beloved son, Jack Danley; and her granddaughter, Amber Frazier.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Max Chesshir, Sr., of Conroe; her daughter, Jeanne Frazier and husband, William of La Marque; sons, Max Chesshir, Jr., and wife, Jody of Hockley, Greg Chesshir and wife, Angela of Spring; sister, Jackie Fuller of Dickinson; brother, Glen Fuller and wife, Vicki of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Brouke, Brittney, Lauren, and Ayden, along with four great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
