Mary Vonice Henderson

SANTA FE – Mrs. Mary Vonice Henderson passed from this life Saturday evening, June 17, 2023, in Santa Fe.

Mary, known to most as Vonice, was born March 6, 1934, in Umatilla, Florida. She came to Texas in 1951 and in 1971 she began working at the San Jacinto Museum of Natural History. She was promoted throughout her 40 years of employment and retired as Controller.  After retirement she spent her time gardening and reading.  Her greatest love in life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude LeRoy and Emma Ruth (Ridgon) Corbitt; husband, Roger Henderson. 

Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Holman and husband, Rob, stepson, Brad Henderson, Sr. and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Cody Holman and wife, Rocio Maria, Cory Holman and wife, Devin; great grandchildren, Hannah and Holden Dugger, Emmie Holman; fur baby, Max the Cat; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend David Harris, officiating. 

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Vonice’s name to the Mae S. Bruce Library, Post Office Box 1407, Santa Fe, TX 77510.
