SANTA FE – Mr. Michael Ambrose Ennis passed from this life Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Galveston.
Born September 14, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, he was a proud Irishman with a generous heart.
For more than 30 years, he was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He also gave decades of service and camaraderie through his memberships at American Legion Post 554, FOE 3199 as well as VFW 5400.
Growing up in Wisconsin, he became a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and carried that love of the team wherever life took him. When he could, he enjoyed time on the golf course. Known for his willingness to help anyone in need, Michael leaves behind a legacy of generosity, and Irish pride that will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick; wife, Sharon Ann Ennis; sons, John Fitzgerald Ennis, Stephen Patrick Ennis.
Survivors include his mother, Eva Ennis; son, Michael James Ennis; daughter, Tracey Gutierrez and husband, Hector; daughter-in-law, Terry Ennis; brothers, Dan Ennis and wife, Betty, Tom Ennis and wife, Sue, Joe Ennis and wife, Barb; sister, Patsy Cihowiak and husband, Tom; aunt, Sister Mary Ann Ennis; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Larry Wilson, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 6 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Michael’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
