Morris Spencer Gould, Sr.

LA MARQUE, TX – Morris Spencer Gould, Sr., 73, of La Marque, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025.  He was born on October 4, 1951, in Texas City, Texas.  Morris grew up in La Marque, Texas.  He later married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria Gould, and they started their own family there.  Morris was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran serving on the USS Leonard F. Mason (DD-852) as a Boiler Technician (BT), honorably discharged in 1973.  After the Navy, he worked as an operator at Amoco BP Chocolate Bayou Plant for almost 30 years before accepting the position as Executive Director for the Galveston Railroad Museum.  He served as a faithful steward of the museum until his retirement in 2018, paying special attention to the rolling stock on display and leading the museum through recovery after the devastating effects of Hurricane Ike in 2008.  Throughout his life Morris had many hobbies, including earning his private pilot license, Airframe and Powerplant license, and restoring vintage motorcycles and cars.  He was also active in the La Marque Police Academy Alumni's Association, and a member of the British Motorcycle Owners Association.  He especially valued his family and friends, and he was a proud grandpa that loved spending time with his grandkids, Daphne and Whitney.

Morris is preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Gould and sister-in-law, Cathy Gould.  He is survived by his wife, Gloria Gould; brother George H. Gould, Jr., son, Spencer Gould and wife, Jill; son, Eric Gould and wife, Chantale; and granddaughters, Daphne and Whitney Gould.

A memorial service will be held September 20, 2025, at 1:30 pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1601 Lake Road, La Marque, Texas, with Father Bob Flick officiating.
