MANVEL – Norman Joseph Broussard passed away at the age of 89 on March 21, 2026, in Manvel.
Norman was born in Erath, Louisiana, on September 14, 1936, to Simon and Aurore (Langlinais) Broussard. Growing up, there was always trouble to be made with Norman and his two other brothers, but it was in high school that he met the love of his life, Shirley (Bertrand). After graduating from high school, the two lovebirds drove 15 minutes down the street to Abbeville, LA, and were married in 1954. Together, they became lifelong parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath. Norman later joined the National Guard, where he served honorably for several years. He worked as an electrician for Freeport Sulphur for over 30 years before retiring. Norman was a handyman who could fix just about anything. He loved going fishing and staying close to family. Norman had a very joking personality. He loved to have a good time and tell his jokes, and it’s this wonderful trait that he leaves behind in his family and friends. Until we see him again, we will miss and love him every day.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alvin Broussard and Paul Johnny Broussard.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Shirley Broussard; son, Nathan G. Broussard; daughter, Paula S. Broussard; grandchildren, Kristin Broussard Miller and husband, Christian, Shanna Morales and husband, Jaime, Annabella Broussard, Olivia Broussard, Gabriella Broussard; great-grandchildren, Ryan Morales, Jordan Morales, and Jaxon Morales.
A direct cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
