Nunzio Joseph Marabella
SANTA FE – Lt. Col. Nunzio Joseph Marabella passed from this life Wednesday morning, December 20, 2023, with his family at his side.
Born December 28, 1932, in Brooklyn New York, Col. Marabella had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1975, previously of Fort Hood. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Nunzio was an entrepreneur in civilian life and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins and loved playing cards, especially Poker and Spades. He enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and travelling around the world with his soulmate, Genevieve.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rose (Leoncavallo) Marabella and his granddaughter, Dana Nicole Marabella.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Genevieve Marabella; son, Peter Marabella and wife, Jody; daughter, Anna-Marie Kempf and husband, Rick; brother Peter Marabella; grandchildren Heidi and Justin Ritchey, Erin and Keith Lee, Dr. Holly Marabella, Katie and Garrett Belt; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Belt, Christian, Jaxson, Bryce, and Ryder Lee, Ty Ritchey, Bella Ritchey, Canton Kempf, Connlann Stewart.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Vellappallil officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Belt, Keith Lee, Justin Ritchey and Brandon Wells. Honorary bearers will be Canton Kempf, Christian Lee and Jaxson Lee.
