Opal Faye Vaughn, 90, of La Marque, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. Born on June 9, 1934, Opal was a beloved member of her community, known for her vibrant spirit and dedication to service.
An avid baseball player in her youth, Opal's passion for the sport was well-known among her peers. Opal worked for Napko for 13 years where her artistic talents shone through in her painting and decorating ideas, bringing color and warmth to every space she touched. She was a member of the Arcadia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she contributed her time and energy to supporting local emergency services. Opal also enjoyed participating in the Arcadia 42 Club and volunteering at HIS Ministry. She loved gardening, was the best cook ever and had the cleanest house in town.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Crawford and Sarah Clara Perkins; sons, Charles Edward and James Calvin Vaughn; sisters, Mary Ruth Harvey, Margie Sims.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Ed Vaughn; son, Robert Vaughn and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Adam and Ann Vaughn, Jennifer and Cody Consford, David Vaughn, Brady Vaughn, Bridgett Wright; 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery
