Pedro Lopez, Sr.
LA PORTE – Mr. Pedro Lopez, Sr. passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2022, in Pasadena.
Pedro was born October 7, 1952, in Galveston to Juan and Belen Lopez. He joined the United States Marines and proudly served his country. In 1975, he married Alma De Leon and they soon started a family. Pedro loved spending time outdoors with his boys. Camping was a favorite pastime they shared. If it was a place to pitch a tent, Pedro was there. He especially loved visiting places like Somerville, Guadalupe and Brazos Bend State Park. With camping came fishing, another activity Pedro enjoyed. Pedro dedicated 36 years to Ineos chemical plant before retiring but while he was there, he became a volunteer firefighter. He also taught firefighter classes at A&M in College Station. He was a war movie buff and loved watching any flick that focused on the military. Pedro was a great husband, father and family member who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Belen (Morin) Lopez; brother, Jessie Lopez; sisters, Juanita Rehm, Lydia Casey; nephew, David Lopez.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Alma Lopez; sons, Pedro Lopez, Jr., Amalio Lopez; sisters, Linda Maldonado and husband, Manuel, Sylvia Gordon and husband, Joseph; niece, Cristina Belen Maldonado; God-children, Annylisa Gonzalez, Rebecca Sandoval, Reece Sandoval, Armando De Leon, Jr. and Erica Rocha; fur babies, Lola and Apple.
A Funeral will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Mr. Mike Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. recited by the Mr. Don LeCompte.
