SANTA FE – Mrs. Peggy Jean Crumby passed away at the age of 90 on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Santa Fe.
Born November 9, 1934, in Stamford, Texas, where she graduated from Stamford High School in 1953. Peggy married the love of her life, Jabo, on August 14, 1954, they were married 68 years, until his passing in 2022. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for several years, where her compassion and steady presence brought comfort to those in her care. Peggy cherished her family, with a special love for her grandchildren. She found joy in cooking, sewing, and hosting holidays at her home, where her warmth made every gathering memorable. Traveling with her siblings was another source of happiness, creating cherished memories along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Bessie (Adams); husband, T.R. “Jabo” Crumby; granddaughter, Kristin Crumby; sisters, Nita Pace, Sylvia Coulter, Beth Collier; brothers, Kenneth Adams, Wendell Adams.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Crumby and wife, Debbie, Mike Crumby and wife, Janet, Larry Crumby and wife, Suzanne, Curtis Crumby and wife, Karen; brothers, Alfred Adams, Ronnie Adams; sisters, Laverne Cowan, Linda Hinton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Nathan Berry officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steven Crumby, Brandon Crumby, Brian Crumby, Dustin Crumby, Keith Crumby and Kevin Crumby.
