Rainey McNeil Obituary

DICKINSON – Ms. Rainey Elizabeth McNeil, a beloved member of the community, passed away at the age of 16 on November 30, 2024, in Dickinson. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A beautiful baby girl was born on October 5, 2008, to Taanya and Travis McNeil. Rainey, always the easy and curious baby, brought so much joy to her family. She formed a special and tight relationship with her brother Jacob whom she absolutely loved. Rainey was baptized at San Agnatius Martyr Catholic Church in Austin where she was a member until the family moved to Dickinson. She later joined Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she had her first reconciliation and later served in the Alter services. Rainey had a well-rounded taste for music, enjoying anything from 1950’s rock to today’s top hits. A serious foodie, Rainey loved trying anything new but loved sticking to her favorites like sushi, Chinese, Suddenly Salad and hot wings (to name a few). Rainey was a sophomore at Dickinson High School. She excelled in school, receiving student of the year award and keeping a straight A record for many years. She was a great writer and artist who loved visiting art museums and traveling. She also enjoyed being outdoors whether that was to fish, hunt, surf or taking walks on the beach. Her goofy personality kept everyone around her laughing, and she loved to be in the middle of a good time. Rainey had a zest for life that was unmatched and her compassion for others was something to be admired. She was a true blessing who will be remembered through all things beautiful. We will always love you, Rainey.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Tadema; grandfather, Ken McNeil.

Survivors include her parents, Travis and Taanya McNeil; brother, Travis Jacob Nathan McNeil; grandfather, Klaas Tadema, III; grandmother, Elizabeth Manning; aunts, Alicia Young (Robert), Shari Marsh (Peter); uncles, Klaas Tadema, IV (Tara), Nathan Tadema (Dinniah), Scott McNeil; fur babies, Fishy, Louie and Peanut.
