SANTA FE - Mrs. Ramona J. Stansbury passed from this life Monday morning, November 25, 2019, in Dickinson.

Ramona was born September 10, 1928 to Thomas Lester and Ada (Bourque) Choate in Port Arthur. At the tender age of 19, she married her loving husband, Ben, and together they walked hand-and-hand on life’s path for 72 years. With each twist and turn along the way their love grew stronger and deeper for one another, forming a bond that lasted a lifetime. Ramona was a compassionate woman who went to school for nursing and worked as an LVN for many years, in many different settings. She had a true talent for sewing – creating many keepsakes for her family including her daughter’s wedding dress.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Winona Landry.

Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years, Claude A. “Ben” Stansbury, Sr.; children, Donna Gail Dickerson of Houston, Claude A. “Benny” Stansbury, Jr. of Pearland, Bonita Joyce Jennings of Elgin, Rodney Scott Stansbury and wife, Ellen of Santa Fe; sister, Roane Landry of Tacoma, WA; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Edward officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
