Mr. Richard Allen Wilson, a proud marine veteran and hard-working family man passed from this life Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Louisiana
Born May 14, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mr. Wilson had been a resident of Santa Fe for most of his life. Richard honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a long and dedicated career as a crane operator, a trade he devoted over 40 years to with skill and commitment. Outside of work, he was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3199 in Bacliff, where he enjoyed the friendships and fellowship of his community.
Known for his strong work ethic and steady hands, Richard also found great joy in simple pleasures, most especially working on his tractor, a pastime that brought him both peace and pride.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the example he set.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy William and Mildred Elizabeth (Merritt) Wilson.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 39 years, Marie Wilson; daughters, Tootsie Thomas and husband, Donny, Sabrina Newton and husband, Robert; son, Kenny Rajewich and wife, Tanny; 6 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; cousins, Mickey and Brenda Wilson; longtime friends, Donald and Kayce Eastep.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Kenny Rajewich, Jr. and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3199 of Bacliff officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors presented by the Dickinson VFW Post 6378.
Pallbearers will be Braedyn Mauldin, Charlie Mauldin, Jonathan Mauldin, Justin Mauldin, Justin Mauldin and Donny Thomas, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Robert Newton, Kenneth Rajewich, and Donny Thomas.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
