HITCHCOCK – Robert L. Caddell, 74, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Clear Lake, Texas.
Born on December 28, 1950, in Galveston, Robert was known for his vibrant personality and love for life. He enjoyed staying active and social, especially through his regular meetups with friends at their local gym, which doubled as a “gym social club.” Robert dedicated 35 years of his career as a train conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad, and in his free time, he could often be found listening to classic rock, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and sharing his movie critiques with family—his reviews were the go-to guide for what to watch. Above all, Robert cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his warmth, humor, and presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Mattie (Rogers) Caddell; his sisters, Jeanette Meucci and Judy Rider; and his brother-in-law, Hank Rider.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Jane Caddell; his sons, Robert Lee Caddell II and wife Blaire, and Chance Wayland Caddell and girlfriend Juana Martinez; his brother, Roger Caddell and wife Cherokee; his brother-in-law, Guilo Meucci; his beloved grandchildren, Holden Gray and Eleanor Jane; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cherished fur babies, Watney and Mel.
A direct cremation was entrusted to Hayes Funeral Home in Hitchcock, Texas. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
