Robert Matthew “Matt” Lampe
Robert Matthew “Matt” Lampe, age 59, passed early Monday morning, April 11, 2022, in Dickinson, Texas, after a short battle with cancer.
Matt was born February 7, 1963, in Texas City, Texas, to Phyllis and Arthur Lampe. He went to Pearland High School where he met the love of his life. On October 24, 1986, he married Margarette Lyons. They were married for 35 years.
Starting at an early age, Matt enjoyed helping out however he could with his grandmother’s cattle and worked any odd jobs he could find. After high school he went on to housebuilding and truck driving until he landed his job at Geon where he worked for 31 years.
Matt enjoyed watching old TV shows like “In the Heat of the Night” or “Match Game”. He loved firing up his smoker to cook various types of meat. He also enjoyed fishing and golf. But nothing gave him more joy than playing catch with his dog. He always ended every day right next to his wife saying The Lord’s Prayer. Matt was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects or whatever else they might need.
Matt is survived by his wife, Margarette Lampe; son, Robert (Mandy) Lampe; daughter, Sarah (Cody) Price; mother, Phyllis Honey; father, Arthur Lampe; brothers, Jeffrey (Deborah) Lampe, Arthur “Gene” Lampe, Kenneth (Mien) Lampe, and Cody (Allanah Jackson) Honey; grandchildren, Leah Lampe, Jadyn Lampe, Penelope Price, Clayton Lampe, Luke Price, Weston Lampe, and Haven Lampe; nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, other family, friends, and his dog, Ariel.
Matt was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clayton Honey (husband of Phyllis Honey).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, at First Baptist Church Texas City, 10000 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Suite 2000, Texas City, Texas 77591.
