Roger “PaPa” Dahme
SANTA FE - Mr. Roger “PaPa” Allen Dahme passed from this life Saturday morning, August 15, 2020, in Santa Fe, Texas.
Roger was born May 30, 1936 in Lemmon, South Dakota as one of 13 children to Roy and Lillian (Emmons) Dahme. As a young family man in South Dakota, he served as city councilman, school board member, American Red Cross, volunteer Fire Chief and EMT. In 1958, he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. Just a few months after his discharge, he married the love of his life, Doris, and together they started a family. Roger and Doris owned and operated Dahme Auto Service from 1962 until 1982. In 1982, the family moved to Texas where he worked as a mechanic until his retirement in 2017. He was a talented mechanic and could always be found in his garage tinkering. He loved fishing and hunting, especially with his grandkids. Roger was devoted to his family and his religion. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and had a true servant’s heart. He was born a Lutheran and died a Lutheran. Roger was a good provider, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lillian; siblings, Donna Mitchell, Rita Smith, Peggy Dahme, Jo Ann Barclay, Gerry Dahme, Sr., Keo Williamson, Bruce Dahme, Dennis Dahme, Linda Masset and Kathy Otter; niece Belinda Smith; and nephews, Gerry Dahme, Jr. and Terry Dahme, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Dahme; daughters, Cindy Alexander and husband, Frank, Sherry Smith and husband, Bennie, Lynn Peloquin and husband, Tony; brother, Terry Dahme, Sr.; sister, Carol Geist and husband, Phillip; grandchildren, Joey, Justin (Cassidy), Sierra, Jennie Lynn, Franchesca, Mia, Caramia, Lane, and Tyler; fur babies, Carley and Whiskers.
A direct cremation was performed under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
