Ronald Keith Long
SANTA FE - Mr. Ronald Keith Long passed from this life Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023, in Beaumont.
Ronald was born on January 27, 1932, in Minneapolis, Kansas. Ronald enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He proudly served his country during the Korean War but continued his work in the Navy for 25 years before retiring at the rank of E7. Ronald loved being on the water, boating and waterskiing in his younger years. In 1954, he married Sue (Archer) and together they built a family. He loved being a father and being involved with their sports, especially baseball, serving as President of the Santa Fe Little League for 2 years. Ronald was a hard worker and always provided for his family. After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, he worked for Monsanto as an operator for another 10 years. Ronald was a gifted carpenter who could fix anything around the house and when he wasn’t fixing up his rent houses, he was working on cars. Ronald’s smile and kindness will always be remembered fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lola (Newland) Long; wife, Juanita Long; son, Daryl Long; daughter-in-law, Kim Long; sister, Althea Sumy.
Survivors include his son, Mike Long; brother, Neil Long; grandchildren, Dustin Long and wife, Cynthia (Yarotsky) Long, Shaina Long; great-grandchildren, Alex, Gage, Colton, Gisselle, Dakota, Jace and Jade.
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Mr. Chico Michael officiating. Internment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
