HITCHCOCK - Mr. Salome Hernandez passed from this life Thursday afternoon, September 21, 2023, in Webster.

Salome was born October 4, 1925, in Big Wells to Jesus and Josephina Hernandez. He met Martina (Campillo), and the couple was married in 1969. Salome and Martina loved the Lord and the two became the founding members of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Hitchcock. They both enjoyed spending time with their friends at church and visiting flea markets together. Salome was known to always have a well-manicured lawn and if there was something to tinker with outside, he’d do it for hours. In his downtime, he liked to watch old western movies and baseball games. We were blessed to have him for so many years, and we know that we’ll see him again.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martina Hernandez.

Survivors include his sons, Jesse Hernandez and wife, Kelly, Arnuflo Hernandez and wife, Rebecca, Martin Hernandez and wife, Becky; daughter, Maria Cheeseman and family; sister, Maria Reyes; grandchildren, Nikolas Hernandez, Mandy Gutierrez, Brandy Root, Tara Garza, Kiel Hawkins, Declan Hernandez, Riordan Hernandez, Camden Hernandez; several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Hitchcock, 7315 Highland Bayou Drive, Hitchcock, Texas 77563, with Pastor Leonard Diaz officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Gutierrez, Kiel Hawkins, Arnulfo Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez, Martin Hernandez, and Niko Hernandez.
