Samye Sue (Goodson) Smith

HOUSTON – Mrs. Samye Sue Smith passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Houston.

Born December 19, 1941, in Odessa, Texas, Mrs. Smith was a member of Living Stones Church in Alvin. Samye was an avid antique dealer and passionate collector, always finding joy in the stories behind each treasured piece. She also loved to travel, embracing new places and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm. For more than 40 years, she was the proud owner and operator of Smith Nursery, where she dedicated her life to cultivating beauty and serving her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Laverne (Jordan) Goodson; husband, Robert Smith.

Survivors include her son, Joshua Smith; daughters, Kelli Boettcher, Kerri Wood; brother, Don Goodson; sister, Jo Walker; grandchildren, Henry Smith, Wyatt Smith, Josie Smith, Tyler McNaughton, Norman Boettcher, Alexis Boettcher, Dustin Boettcher and wife, Hayley.

A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
