Stella Garcia Ramirez
January 14, 1944 ~ February 3, 2026
SANTA FE – It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Garcia Ramirez, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter. Stella passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by her family and loving husband of 55 years, Pete Ramirez.
Stella was born on January 14, 1944, to Emeterio and Antonia Garcia. Born and raised in Galveston, Texas, Stella was proud to be BOI (Born on the Island). She dedicated 32 years of service to the State of Texas, beginning her career working with special needs children and continuing her service as a scribe in the Nuclear Medicine Department at UTMB until her retirement in 2000.
She was a devoted mother to her son, Jesse Rolando Ramirez and a proud, loving and generous grandmother to her granddaughters, Tessah Marie and Kayla Renay Ramirez as well as bonus granddaughters by love, Marisa Morales and Ashley Griffice. Stella gave endlessly and tirelessly of herself to her family and made it known that each one was supported, protected and deeply loved. Nothing gave her more joy than loving and spoiling them. She never missed a game, a birthday party or dance recital and delighted in traveling with her grandchildren to Disneyworld among other destinations. She never missed an opportunity to brag about them as they were growing up. She shared a special unbreakable bond with Tessah, who will greatly and forever miss and cherish their nightly goodnight phone calls - a loving ritual that started from the time Tessah could speak. She was the proud and supportive great-grandmother of Joseph, Christopher and Aaliyah Denney and Aaniyah Cortez who brought her endless joy and laughter. Stella loved scrapbooking treasured memories, crafts and diamond art. She was an avid reader of fiction and historical non-fiction, always eager to learn something new or lose herself in a good book.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emeterio Garcia and Antonia Quintanilla; brother, Richard Garcia, Sr. and sister, Emma Lujan.
Stella’s legacy of love and generosity will forever be held close by the family she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving husband, Pete Ramirez; devoted son, Jesse Rolando Ramirez (& Lisa Philyaw); brother, Jose Garcia; sister, Olga Lopez; granddaughters, Tessah Marie Ramirez, Kayla Renay Ramirez and bonus granddaughters, Marisa Morgan Morales and Ashley Marie Griffice; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, and Aaliyah Denney and Aaniyah Cortez; her beloved nephew, Richard Garcia, Jr., and family, daughter-in-law, Sophia Ramirez; and her loving Ramirez family from Robstown, Texas and the surrounding Dallas areas.
