Mr. Steven Charles “Steve” Upton passed away at the age of 69 on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by his family at their home in Santa Fe.
Steve was born on July 25, 1955, in Corpus Christi, and shortly after the family moved to Oklahoma. He was a true Okie at heart, but Steve eventually moved back to Texas. He met his wife, Karen, while attending Alvin Community College. The two continued their education at the University of Houston – Clear Lake where they both earned bachelor’s degrees. Eventually, Steve joined Karen’s church, Arcadia Christian Church, where they were married. He was a man of great faith. He loved his church community a great deal and served on the governing board for over 40 years. Steve had a passion for classic cars, which inspired him to start his business TruStar, Inc. – a buying group in the automotive industry. He retired 3 years ago after 34 years of working in an industry with people he loved dearly. Steve loved going on hunting trips for wild game and adding his prizes to his office and man cave. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends and customers, but most of all, Steve loved his family.
He is preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Nita Upton; cousin, Tina Chatham; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Upton; uncle, Dale Medlin; uncle, Jack and wife, Walena Medlin; grandmother, Beulah Medlin.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karen Upton; son, Kyle and husband, Chris Coble-Upton; daughter, Kayla Upton; brother, Brett Upton; uncle, Chuck and wife, Pat Medlin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 and the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22. Both services will be held at Arcadia Christian Church, 14201 Beriton Street, Santa Fe, Texas 77517.
