Syble Mattie (Nichols) Mason

TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Syble Mattie Mason passed from this life Monday, January 29, 2024, in Alvin.

Born July 20, 1932, in Corsicana, Texas, Mrs. Mason had been a resident of Texas City for most of her life. Syble found joy in traveling and had an appreciation for the diversity and beauty our world has to offer. She also had a flair for the culinary arts and transformed ordinary ingredients into extraordinary dishes, bringing people together with her passion for cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmon and Viola (McCain) Nichols; husband, Robert Samuel Mason; daughter, Rebecca Ann Mason-Corwin; 1 brother; 4 sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Mason and wife, Janet of Santa Fe, David Mason of Tennessee; son-in-law, Evan Corwin; grandchildren, Matt Mason, Stacie Banister, Christopher Corwin; great-grandchildren, Mason Thompson, Jaxon Thompson, Chloe Mason, Kenna Corwin.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating.
