SANTA FE – Mrs. Sylvia Ann Thompson passed from this life Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2024, in Santa Fe.
Born September 7, 1941, in Galveston, Mrs. Thompson was a lifelong resident of Galveston County and was a faithful member and former CCD teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A dedicated gardener, Sylvia spent countless hours nurturing flowers and vegetables, fishing was another passion that brought her peace and joy, and in the kitchen, she was a master, known for preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes (Kuchar) Kopecky; sisters, Virginia Holmes, Patsy Stiglich, Shirley Kopecky.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Jarel “Jerry” Thompson; daughters, Cynthia Thompson of Conroe, Laurie Ann Hartfard of New Hampshire; sister, Alice Imhoff and husband, John of Houston; grandchildren, Seth, Shawna, Madison and Colton; great-grandchildren, Alexi, Bodhi, Kodiaik, Marley and Nathaniel.
Visitation with the family will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, with a Rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Larry Wilson, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robert Bear, John Imhoff, Seth Gagnon, Frank Marullo, Bert Thompson and Bob Wise. Honorary bearer will be Tom Linton.
