HITCHCOCK – Mrs. Valinda Ponselle Young passed from this life on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Born November 15, 1924 in Springtown, Texas, Ponselle and Larry married April 14, 1943 and were married for 69 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry V. Young; parents, Elgin and Otice Collins; brothers, Otic and Eddie Collins.
She leaves behind son, Mike Young and wife, B. J.; daughter, Deborah Delony and husband, William; grandchildren, Brody and wife, Jodi, Austin, Aimee and husband, Eric, Bo and wife, Misty; great-grandchildren, Michael, Haylee, Macy, Skylar, Caiden, Chance, Dylan, Trent, Bailey, Riley; great-great-grandchild, Reece; niece, Dari Neisler.
Every place she lived she was a member of the local Church of Christ, Diamond Hill in Fort Worth, 7th Street in Texas City, Midway in Hitchcock. Ponselle loved teaching Bible class… 3rd grade was her favorite and she taught for over 30 years. She worked for Texas City school district for 25 years teaching handicapped children, retiring in 1990. She was a wonderful mother staying at home and raising her children while they were in school. She was known for her banana pudding and sending out cards.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, with Mr. Russell McLaughlin officiating.
