Vanessa Lynn (Mazarac) Haak

ALVIN – Vanessa Lynn Haak passed away at the age of 59 on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Alvin.

Born July 7, 1966, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Vanessa was a resident of Alvin for over 25 years. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Known affectionately as “Momma V,” she had a nurturing spirit and a heart that was always open to others. She loved animals deeply and showed her compassion through her longtime support and donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For many years, she was a familiar and friendly face at the Walmart deli, where she worked for 13 years and was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help anyone who needed it. Whether family, friends, coworkers, or strangers, she was always putting others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lindsey and Bernice (King) Mazarac; brother, Travis Luke, Sr.; sister, Theresa O’Dell Cheramie.

Survivors include her daughters, Tasha Story and fiancé, Seth Louque of Texas City, Tiffany Pressley and husband, Chris of Alvin, Melissa Greear of Houston, Bobbi Tussing of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Lindsey Mazarac of Foxworth, Mississippi; sisters, Patricia Brown of Lawrence, Mississippi, Donna Mazarac  of Bridge City, Louisiana, Bonnie Sue Staubitz and husband, Bobby of Blakely, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home,10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Bryan Cardin officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Noe Perez, Austin Pressley, Chris Pressley, Christopher Pressley, Dillon Pressley, Michael Windham.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Vanessa’s name to Hayes Funeral Home, to help with funeral cost.
