Vincent Charles (Arrington) Lawrence, Sr.

TEXAS CITY - Vincent Charles Lawrence (Arrington) Sr., a beloved father, brother, friend, and community member, passed away peacefully in Texas City, TX, on September 10, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Vernon, TX, on September 20, 1952, Vince was known for his loving, charismatic, and generous spirit. He brought joy to those around him with his sense of humor, warmth, and boundless care for others.

Vince dedicated 30 years of his life working at the Port of Galveston’s Water Department as a plumber, where he was respected for his skill, hard work, and friendly demeanor. He was a cherished colleague and made lasting friendships during his time there, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

In his free time, Vince found joy in reading, particularly books by Louis L’Amour, and had a deep love for Westerns. His favorite movie was Tombstone, and he could often be found enjoying its classic scenes and stories of the Old West.

He is survived by his three loving children, Chris Lawrence (wife, Amber Lawrence), Vincent Lawrence (fiancé, Erika Ramirez), and Josie Akins (husband, Justin Akins). He is also survived by his dear sisters, Conni Bowers and Kay Green, and many grandchildren who adored him. Vince was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Forrest Arrington and Virginia Charlyne Hall. Vince’s legacy will be carried on by his family, who were his pride and joy, and by all those who knew and loved him.

Vince was a man who touched many lives, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. His kindness and generosity were evident to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His personality was larger than life, and his light will continue to shine through the many people whose lives he impacted.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 with a celebration of life beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501, with Minister Chris Lawrence officiating, as his loved ones gather to remember the remarkable man he was.
