LA MARQUE - Virginia “Ginny” Hobbs, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Born on August 29, 1949, in Texas City, Ginny was a longtime resident of Galveston County.
Ginny worked for many years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Galveston County Memorial Hospital. In addition to her work in healthcare, she was a devoted homemaker whose warmth and kindness made her house a welcoming home to all who entered.
Ginny earned a theology degree from The Fellowship. She founded and was the former director of Angels Closet for Galveston County.
Ginny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening and could often be found tending to her flowers and plants with care. She also enjoyed reading and spending quiet moments immersed in a good book.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Alice Althea (Heiman) Sessions; son, Richard Kevin Hobbs; sister, Naomi Tunis.
Survivors include her husband, Richard “Dickie” Hobbs, Jr.; son, Berthony Pierre; daughter, Kimberly and husband, Shane Taylor; brother, Ernest Lawrence Bivens; sister, Pansy Arriola and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Bailey Hobbs-Lawal and husband, Peace, Blake Hobbs, Jordan and Gene Warren, Tangyie, Jonathan, Kory and Cody Taylor; 8 great grandchildren; close friends, Andi Estep, Carol Beckingham, Denise Tripoldi and Carole Singleton.
The family would like to give special recognition to Harvelene Emert, for being a source of unwavering care and comfort for my Mom.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Bishop Delbert Herrin officiating. Interment will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Shane Taylor, Blake Hobbs, John Allen, Robert Snarr, Isaac Estep and Kory Taylor.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
