Wayne Frederick Reitmeyer

Wayne Frederick Reitmeyer, 66, passed away surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Wayne was born on January 4, 1960, in Texas City, Texas. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1978, where his love for baseball was already evident. He continued his education and athletic career at Alvin Community College, playing baseball for two years before earning a baseball scholarship to Lamar University in Beaumont. There, he completed his degree in Geology while continuing to pursue the sport he loved.

After graduation, Wayne worked for Smith Tools before beginning the career that would define much of his professional life. In 1984, he became a State Farm agent in Hitchcock, Texas. Through hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others, he built a respected career that spanned 42 years. In 2001, he moved his agency to Lake Jackson, where he continued serving his community until planning for his retirement in June 2026.

While Wayne was proud of his professional accomplishments, his greatest joy was always his family.

He was a devoted husband to Debbie, a loving father, a proud Pops, and a faithful son. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved most. Whether it was family gatherings, watching the Astros with his mother, sharing stories with friends, or making memories with his grandchildren, Wayne found his greatest happiness in the people around him.

Wayne was known for his honesty, strong work ethic, quick wit, and steady character. He was the kind of man who could always be counted on to do the right thing, even when it wasn't the easy thing. His faith in God guided his life, and his example taught those around him what integrity, kindness, and perseverance truly looked like.

A lifelong sports fan, Wayne never lost his love for baseball. As a young man, his dream was to become a professional baseball player, and throughout his life he remained an enthusiastic supporter of the game. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing cards, and cheering on the Astros and Texans.

To know Wayne was to know loyalty, generosity, and love. He lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. His legacy is not measured by awards or accomplishments, but by the countless lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example he set every day.

Wayne leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who were blessed to know him. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his love, wisdom, humor, and strength will remain with them forever.

He fought with remarkable courage until the very end. And while his family wishes they could have had more time, they find comfort in knowing that his pain has ended and that he is now at peace.

Wayne's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and profoundly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Tacquard Reitmeyer, Jr.; sister, Julieann Reitmeyer; brother, John Reitmeyer; brother-in-law, John Hillman; nephew, Joseph Hillman.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie Reitmeyer; mother, Julia Reitmeyer; son, Chase Reitmeyer and wife, Madison; daughter, Natalie Dishman and husband, Matthew; brothers, Bill Reitmeyer and wife, Kay, Albert Reitmeyer and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Zaylee and Henley Reitmeyer, Anna, Caroline and Caleb Dishman; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Dominion Church, 6400 Calder Drive, Dickinson, TX, with Pastor Clint DeGroot officiating.
