LEAGUE CITY - Mrs. Winafae Ryan passed from this life Friday afternoon, November 10, 2023, in League City.

Born August 11, 1949, in Huntsville, TX, Mrs. Ryan had been a resident of League City for 10 years, previously of Santa Fe. She worked as a system analyst for UTMB for 20 years. Winafae loved football and also enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing puzzles, playing cards, Skipbo and watching NASCAR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Chapman Gates and Nellie (Tullos) Gates; husband, John Joseph Ryan, Jr., brother, Hoover Gates.

Survivors include her daughter, Crystal Dawn Ryan Gates; sisters, Doris Scofelia, Kathy Davis; grandchildren, Hayden Alexander Gates, Josh Montrose, Amber Trahan; special family, Jennifer “JJ” and Steven Myers, Ashley and Brett Eaves, Lacey Hayward.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Gates, Nathan Gates, Steven Myers, Brett Eaves, Alexander Crocker and Herbie Dunlap, Jr.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
