SANTA FE – Mr. Dennis Cameron Carnell passed from this life Monday morning, January 23, 2017, in Texas City.
Born March 21, 1937 in Charlottesville, Virginia, Mr. Carnell had been a resident of Santa Fe for 18 years, previously of Levita, TX and Galveston, TX. Dennis proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps before beginning his career as a supervisor for Galveston Concrete. He was a honorary deputy constable for Galveston County and enjoyed playing pool and listening to music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin R. and Helen Connett; brother, John Carnell. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years Nell Carnell; daughter, Roxanne Welchel of Midwest City, OK; brother, Eddie Carnell; sisters, Judith Thome and husband, Todd, Sandra Young; 2 granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews and his 4-legged family Socks, Sadie and Muffin.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston, with the VFW Post 5400 and the U. S. Marines rendering military honors.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
