Horace Chester “Rusty” LaFrage

LAMARQUE – Mr. Horace Chester “Rusty” LaFrage, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, August 14, 2016, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 28, 1936 in Abbottsburg, North Carolina to Thomas Chester and Katherine Louise (McEwen) LaFrage. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Rusty worked as a seaman with G & H Towing, retiring after 40 years. He member of Arcadia First Baptist Church and the Mainland Elks Lodge 2141 Bpoe in La Marque, was an avid hunter, enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. Rusty was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marceline Hopkins. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Kay (Williams) LaFrage; son Rusty Alan LaFrage and wife, Susan; daughters, Jeanne Jewell and her companion, Harry Dudley of Rye, TX, Marcy K. Braun of League City; grandchildren, Brandy Townsend, Sean Alan LaFrage, Bradley Jewell, Ashleigh Dobbs, Chelsea LaFrage, Brittany Braun and Laurel Braun; great-grandchildren, Kameryn Townsend, Piper Townsend, T.J. Townsend, Austen LaFrage, Colten LaFrage, Aidan Jewell, Daniel Jewell and Elizabeth Jewell; sisters, Carolyn Aglin and Nancy Bright both of Rex, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Scott Packer.

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Smith officiating. Graveside service and interment will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Shiloh Cemetery in Rusk County.

Casket bearers will be Jason Akin, Walter Braun, Brad Jewell, Sean LaFrage, Raymond Lee, Cody Smith, Randy Williams and Rodney Williams. Honorary bearer will be Raymond Davila.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, TX, (409) 925-3501.
