SANTA FE – Mr. James Adam Rothermel passed from this life Monday evening, August 15, 2016, in Webster.
Born September 1, 1927 in Randolph, Ohio, Mr. Rothermel proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. James had been in the Merchant Marines, and had worked as a chief operator for Monsanto in Texas City, retiring after 34 years. After retirement, James worked many other jobs, such as Texas First Bank for 15 years and at Kroger. He enjoyed carpentry and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5400.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Peter and Zita (Jazorak) Rothermel; wife, Mary Lou (Linkey) Rothermel; son, James Charles Rothermel; siblings, Catherine Lachowski, Rose Mary Nelson, Theresa Fenster, Francis, Bernard, Urban and Thomas Rothermel.
Survivors include his children, John Rothermel and wife, Jan, Kate David and husband, Jerrel, Sr. all of Santa Fe, Kathleen McCann and husband, Mike of Dickinson, Ladelle Rothermel of LaMarque; siblings, Eva B. Flaviani of Warren, Ohio, George and wife, Joan Rothermel of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Stanley and wife, Arvilla Rothermel of Morristown, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jerrel David, Jr., John Davis, Robert Gilbert, Fred Nelson, Adam Rothermel, and Rusty Rothermel.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in James’ name to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563 or Hallmark Hospice, 1120 Nasa Parkway, Suite 340A, Houston, Texas 77058.
