TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Phyllis Mae Jackson passed from this life Saturday morning, November 25, 2017, in Texas City.
Phyllis was born on June 23, 1923 on the Klamath Reservation in Oregon. Her kind and loving disposition allowed her the opportunity to touch many lives. She’ll be remembered fondly for her “testamint ministry” she gave out to the community and for many years she presided as the Madam President for the VFW. Phyllis was also an excellent cook who loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvan Barney Crume, Sr. and Eunice Barkley; grandmother, Effie Barkley; daughter, Gloria Jean Covert; grandson, Donald “Don” Jackson, Jr.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Jackson and wife, Resa, Lesttley Jackson, Jr. and wife, Diane; best friend and caregiver for over 17 years, Faye Gilbert; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A direct cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Showboat Theater, 416 6th Street North, Texas City, TX 77590, with Paul Cowart officiating.
