Roy Gene Thaxton

     BAY CITY – Mr. Roy Gene Thaxton passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2016, in Houston.

     Born October 17, 1946 in Plainview, Texas, Mr. Thaxton had been a resident of Bay City since 2012. He was a member of AARP, a jack of all trades as well as a master of all trades, who enjoyed fishing, working on small motors and playing with his goats. He had worked for many years as an irrigation specialist.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Prentice and Stella Marie Thaxton; brother, Randy Thaxton; sister, Cecilia Wells .

     Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Donna Lee Thaxton; son, Dwayne Thaxton of Milton, Florida; daughter, Krystal Mason and husband, James of Bay City; brothers, Ricky Thaxton and wife, Sandra of Dalhart, Cecil Thaxton and wife, Mamie of Herford; sisters, Elizabeth Kaye Vaughn and husband, Edward of Ohio, Faye Trussell; grandchildren, Chase Thaxton of Italy, Chance Thaxton and Skylar Thaxton of Milton; numerous nieces and nephews.

     A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

     Memorial in the form of donations may be made in Roy’s name to The American Cancer Society for Lung Cancer Research, Post Office Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718, or any animal shelter.
