SANTA FE - Mrs. Carolina Sample passed from this life Friday morning, August 5, 2016, in Santa Fe.

Born June 19, 1924 in Galveston, Mrs. Sample had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. She loved her family, especially her grandkids. Carolina enjoyed looking at the clouds and seeing if she could find people or animals in them, loved cooking (especially during the holidays) and liked to talk to her chickens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis W. Sample, Jr.; daughter, Carolyn Ann Garrison; brothers, John, Eddie and Elmer Holzworth; sisters, Elizabeth Holzworth, Louise Garibaldi, Clara Mae Hayman and Johanna Nelson.

Survivors include her son, Curtis Sample and wife, Bettie; grandchildren, Scott Garrison and wife, Rebecca,  Jerry Garrison, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Samantha Garrison, Mark Garrison, Haley Garrison, Charles Garrison, William Garrison, Jerry Garrison ; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. Charles Rollo officiating.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
