SANTA FE - Mr. Douglas W. Hiser, Sr. passed from this life Saturday evening, April 8, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Born February 24, 1934 in Waco, Texas Mr. Hiser had been a long time resident of Santa Fe since 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Douglas was a member of the First Christian Church in Texas City where he had been a former deacon. A life member of the VFW Post #5400 in Santa Fe, member of the Southwest Officials Association, the Galveston County Rancher’s Association and former member of the Texas Southwest Cattle Rancher’s Association. He enjoyed fishing, raising chickens and providing a loving home for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Middy and Lola May (Sparks) Hiser; sister, Betty Jordan; 3 brothers, Ervin Hiser, Donald Hiser and Leroy Hiser.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 61 years, Annette (Bear) Hiser; sons, Douglas W. Hiser, Jr. and wife, Gayln of Dickinson, Gerald Hiser and wife, Anita of League City, John Allen Hiser and husband, David Spencer Hiser of Houston; daughter, Patricia Anderson and husband, David of Dickinson; 9 grandchildren, Myles and Izzy, Heather and Josh, Heather and Brad, Dustin, Damon, Cade, Hailey, Lacey and Ryan, Holly; 6 great-grandchildren, Leighton, Anson, Rose, Shaw, Finlie, Lainey; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Reverend Danielle Cox officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
