Ernest Richard “Flat Top” Richnow

    Santa Fe – Mr. Ernest Richard “Flat Top” Richnow passed away Friday, November 25, 2016, in Galveston, TX.

    Born December 9, 1937, Mr. Richnow had been a resident of Galveston County since 1984, previously from Houston, TX. He was a member of the Longshore Local 24 and worked for 30 years at the port of Houston. He was an avid fisherman, shrimper and had many many friends visit him at Flat Top’s Ice House. He was always willing to help friends and families in need.

    He is preceded in death by his parents E.J. and Katie Mae Richnow and sisters Sue, Muriel, Gwen, and a brother Fred.

    Mr. Richnow is survived by his wife Sandy of 57 years; son, Chuck Richnow and wife, Nora of Crosby TX; daughter, Dr. Tina Mendiola and husband, Roland of Buda, TX; granddaughter, Rayna Lynn husband, Matt and a great-grand child to be born in June, 2017. In addition, Mr. Richnow is survived by his niece, Terry Jacobs and husband, Mike of Manvel, TX along with many other family members.

    In respect of his wishes no services are planned at this time; but, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. A private cremation will be conducted by Hayes Funeral Home.
