LA MARQUE – Mr. Guy S. Cook, Jr., passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, September 7, 2016, in Webster. 

Born October 22, 1932 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Mr. Cook had been a resident of La Marque since 1956.  He served in the U. S. Marines, was a criminal law attorney for over 50 years, having practiced for 35 years, a longtime member of the American Bar Association and Texas State Bar Association, as well as lab supervisor at Monsanto for 30 years before his retirement. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy S. and Beulah Cook, Sr.; Ruth Cook and Bonnie Brawner. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred Marie Cook; daughter, Suzanne Marie Gibson-Reed of La Marque; son, Guy S. Cook, III, and wife, Melissa of Tatum; grandchildren, Guy “Bo” S. Cook, IV and wife, Madason, Zachary Kade Cook, Kali Kristen Gibson, Hunter Taylor Reed, Amber Bostick, Trenton Chase Cook; great-grandchildren, Brayden Guy Cook, Bransen Paul Cook, Ava Elise Antunez.

   Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Apostle Ludie Lynch, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Bo Cook, Guy Cook, Trent Cook, Zachary Cook, Bill Lloyd and Edward Speaker. 

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.  

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Guy’s name to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, Post Office Box 515, Northampton, Massachusetts 01061-0515, or Shriner Children’s Hospital, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
