Irene Margaret Janicek

      HITCHCOCK - Mrs. Irene Margaret Janicek passed from this life Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2017, in Hitchcock.

    Born April 8, 1932 in Wharton, Texas, Mrs. Janicek had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1965, previously of LaMarque. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she had been active in the Altar Society and the Friendship Club. Irene had worked as a school aide for 21 years at Hitchcock Independent School District and enjoyed spending time with her family whether here, at her river home in Rye, Texas or at the family deer lease in Fredericksburg, Texas.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eleanora (Mazel) Krause and her husband, Marvin B. Janicek.

    Survivors include son, Marvin Errol Janicek and wife, Isabel of Hitchcock; daughters, Pam Jones and husband, Tom of La Marque, Beverly Plowman of La Marque; sisters, Carline Kucera of Wharton, Lillie Mae Kucera of Wharton; grandchildren, Ryan Jones and wife Tiffany, Kelley Jones, Michaela Marquez, Blake Plowman and Morgan Grigg, Cassie Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Dylan Marquez, Sarah Jones, Presley Plowman.

    A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. A Rosary will precede the service at 9:30 a.m.

    Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Irene’s name to the American Lung Association, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101, Hudson, Wisconsin. 54016-9316.

    A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home
