SANTA FE – Mr. William Charles “W.C.” Dearmond passed from this life Friday evening, February 10, 2017, in Shenandoah, Texas.
Born January 31, 1926 in Zavalla, Texas, Mr. Dearmond had lived most of his life in Santa Fe. W.C. proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II, was a member of La Marque United Pentecostal Church and Faith Tabernacle and had owned the “Shoe Box” in Santa Fe for several years. He was a real family man, enjoyed helping children, playing and coaching baseball, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.J. and SaraRuth (Rabun) Dearmond; wife, Glenda Faye (McFarland) Dearmond; brother, Claude D. Dearmond; sister, Mary Jo Walker.
Survivors include his son, Ken Dearmond and wife, Priscilla of Plantersville, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Paukert and husband, Mark, Kent Dearmond and wife, Hollie, Gracie Dearmond; great-grandchildren, Jordan Evans and wife, Jessica, Emily Evans, Brayden Dearmond, Dylan Dearmond, Sammie Paukert, Chandler Paukert; sister, Tommie Ruth Craiger of Alvin.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Reverend Lynn Bohannon and Reverend Jonathan Lilley officiating. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Kent Dearmond, Jordan Evans, Brent Travis, Lynn Ray Turner, Charles Walker and Mike Wetzel. Honorary bearers will be Buddy Craiger, Barry Green, Mark Paukert and Parker Ramsey.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
